Kill Hannah - Hope For The Hopeless Lands

Kill Hannah - Hope For The Hopeless Lands After waiting patiently through three support bands, the second being My Passion, the crowd went ballistic as Kill Hannah took the stage. The Carling Academy, Newcastle, wasn't as packed as you would expect, but the noise was much more than you'd have guessed from the size of the audience.

Mat Devine said it himself, he loves performing in Newcastle, and since many bands choose not to play up here in the north east, the fans couldn't be happier. He proved that to us by playing 'Acid Rain' for the first time live, a track from their up-coming album.

"Normally in mosh pits we see guys with beards and beer bellies, you have to be the best looking mosh pit we've seen."
Devine also says that Kill Hannah have got to be one of the hardest bands to mosh to, "Most of the time you're not sure whether it's okay to kill each other or not." But the crowed managed beautifully, as every person in the room jumped to 'Kennedy' and 'Crazy Angel'. 'Crazy Angel' has also reached number three on international charts, and the band say we'll soon be sick of hearing it, but I can't see that happening fast.

You could certainly feel the love in the room that night, especially as they played 'Love You To Death' and 'Songs That Saved My Life', during which, Mat Devine came down into the audience, even with the security guard holding onto the back of his white jeans. Kill Hannah are extremely devotion to their fans, and "Didn't want to leave the stage", as they played their final song of the night, 'Lips Like Morphine'; not one person was left standing still or silent, as they sang every word along with the band and jumped as though their lives depended on it.

Every song was played perfectly that night, it's hard to listen to a song now without thinking how much better they were live than on album. And that is a huge achievement not many bands manage. As promised, after the show the band came out to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans, dreams certainly came true for a lot of people that night. They were lovely people to talk to and were genuinely happy to be meeting the fans, almost as exited as the fans who were meeting their heroes that night.

A band with that level of devotion to their fans are certainly a band worth listening to, the alternative-rock group from Chicago, Illinois, have won the hearts of teenagers across the globe and should be set for their fan base to explode with the release of their next album. Gentlemen, we wish you nothing but the best.
