Jeffree Star... Who Is He?
Jeffree Star.. Who exactly is he? She? How did he come to be one of the most influential musicians for teens and young adults alike? Over the years since Jeffree or what his fans like to call him ‘Jstar’ hit the scene over MySpace, he has become one of the most popular internet celebrities.
Born Jeffrey Lynn Steininger in November of 1985, Jeffree Star made his début as a cross-dressing 15 year old boy with a fake I.D. who played make-up artist to the rich and famous. Jeffree was referred to Kelly Osbourne, Nicole Ritchie, Paris Hilton, front man Davey Havok of AFI, and Jessika from the band Sterling.
Jeffree gained most of his popularity from posting outrageous photos of himself on forums and then later MySpace. Where he gained even more popularity, so much that people actually started sending him expensive high tech cameras so that he’d be able to take even more photos of himself.
Using MySpace to continue his rise to the top, Jeffree has accumulated over one million friends on the popular social networking site, and with every new photo that he posts receiving over five thousands comments each. His music play list with even more hits.
Jeffree Star’s music career started in 2006 when a friend of his, a member of the band ‘Peaches’ suggested that he’d start a music career. Star was even asked to be a part of one of Hollywood Undead’s songs where he would rap. Unfortunately the song never made it onto Hollywood Undead’s official track listing for the upcoming album for that year.
Jeffree’s first solo tracks were produced by Motley Crue’s drummer Samantha Maloney. After the first tracks were released, Star asked original founder of MySpace; Tom, if he would change Star’s profile into a music page so that he’d be able to show off his music.
November of 2006 Jeffree Star toured with electro bands Metro Station, Breathe Carolina, Ultraviolet Sound, and more. His album "Plastic Surgery Slumber Party” which was produced by Ultraviolet Sound was always high above Justin Timberlake and Cascada on itunes top charts.
Since then Star has released 2 full length albums entitled ‘Cupcakes taste like Violence’ and ‘Beauty Killer’. His album ‘Beauty Killer’ reached #7 on the Billboards top Dance/Electronica charts, dropping to 12th its second week. Jeffree also has a new 2010 tour scheduled since his last tour was canceled due to family problems.
Recently Jeffree has released his first official music video titled ‘Getting Away with Murder’ off of his album ‘Beauty Killer’. By the views and comments so far received it seems to me that the video is a major hit.
Jeffree has shown that he isn’t afraid to show who he is. He doesn’t care what people think about him and he is proud of his sexuality. Star has come a long way since he was known as Jeffrey Steininger. He tells his fans to be yourself and not to be afraid of what others may think of you. And this people is why Jeffree Star is the Queen of the Beautifuls.
