Avril Lavigne: What Happened? - Comments

  • "What the hell" to me just sounded awkard. I was really expecting a realy deep song, wíth rocking lyrics, one with you could really connect with; because after all, they came from Avril Lavigne! But after listening to it I was like "what the hell!?!!" no pun intended. and unless a girl, who is really, really shy, never-has-fun, always plays by the rules, listens to it,and feels that its time to have fun. I see no other more person feeling a connection. Though sure, I´ts really fun to dance along with, It just didn´t feel " Avril Lavigne."

  • This caught my eye right away, because I know I'm not the only one who has this idea. Let Go and Under My Skin were amazing albums; True works of lyrical art and inspiration to anyone that listened. There was that connection there. Maybe in a way, she just "grew up" and lost the rebellious feelings and replaced them with giving into society. I don't know. That's how it seems to be to me.

  • While women have the most respect they've ever gotten now in the 21st century, most singers, be them male or female, do not have much respect for girls. Especially mainstream music-not that I'm insulting mainstream in any way. So probably what happened was that Avril was willing to sell herself out to become more popular, more mainstream. Unfortunitly, her plan backfired, and the opposite happened. Either that, or fame has gone to her head and she's run out of anything meaningful enough to mention in her songs.

I used to love Avril Lavigne, she was role-model. When Best Damn Thing came out, I did my best to remain loyal. But even though I loved to dance to the CD, something just wasn't the same. She wasn't Avril anymore in my eyes, and I just lost interest.

  • I completly agree with this article
I grew up to her music and it helped me a lot when I was in middle school
but now it's as if she is a different artist

  • She tires to look/act punk, when the whole idea of punk isn't dressing to any stupid code or..grr. Makes me angry.

  • Nothing. If it hadn't been for her sound changing, she most-likely wouldn't be around. I mean, just look at Dido.
