"After two impressive build-up EP's, Adelaide's finest emo pop stars, The Hot Lies finally unveiled their debut full-length to the world, making lovers of local pop-infused rock everywhere rejoice. Abandoning their harsher post-hardcore beginnings, the yelling and screaming was barely anywhere to be found amongst the minefield of infectious hooks that so easily sucked you in and but so tenaciously refused to let go. With their emphasis on stronger songs, Ringing in the Sane was an instant 'Pies classic".

Pete Wood, lead singer of the band states in DB, an Adelaide street magazine: "We picked our 12 favorites, and someone's like, 'oh they're the ones with no screaming in 'em. Do we need to go in and put in those parts?' That just seemed such a fake thing to do, just to go in and put those things in there because people expect that of us".

Jared Brown, founding member and the band's drummer added: "There's that cool Jimmy Eat World line where he says 'you don't have to scream to say something you really mean' [No Sensitivity]".

To which Pete Wood elaborated: "That hit home with me, years ago when I was hearing that. I was like, well, why do I get into this band when all the other bands I like are heavy? I realized they had just as much passion as these bands who I thought had more because they were screaming..."

'Ringing In The Sane' features one song with screaming vocals oppose to every previous 'Hot Lies' song. However The album seems to be felt by a wider audience, a noticeable winning formula for Adelaide's Finest musical export.

If Ringing in the Sane does not launch the band onto international scale, It at least turned a few international heads, making The Hot Lies 'The Band to Watch In 2008'.
