Avenged Sevenfold's Afterlife

Avenged Sevenfold's Afterlife On March 5, 2008, Huntington Beach's Avenged Sevenfold released the second single of their new self titled album, released sometime around October 2007.

Avenged Sevenfold is known for Johnny Seward's (Johnny Christ; bassist) Jimmy Sullivan's (The Reverend Tholomew Plague); drummer) clever beats, Brian Haner and Zacky Baker's (Synyster Gates / Zacky Vengeance; guitarists) amazing riffs, and. of course, Matt Sanders' (M. Shadows; vocalist) flowing voice, and the bands overall lyrics. Like the lyrics, the videos include naked women and references to sex.

The band's new album slightly differs from the previous three (Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (2001), Waking the Fallen (2003) and City of Evil (2005) with more heart-felt lyrics. It was a big step for the band; what was to become of their music videos?

The albums first single, Almost Easy, was a favorite to most, but a turnoff to others. Fans felt they were 'selling out', when the screaming left in City of Evil, and when mellower parts appeared in the song. Some appreciated the change, though.

The second single, Afterlife, didn't live up to its expectations.

It begins with a lone man, later made out to be M. Shadows running. Its switches to the bands performance, then switching to a yellow and black tarantula crawling of the Rev's face, then back to the bands performance. It's on and off and such, with each band member doing random things, Christ holding doves, Gates holding a skull, and Vengeance dancing, switching between two different shoots of them performing.

It's dull, compared to the rest of their work and it fails to captivate attention. The video could've been done better, given more effort.
