My Arcadia
My Arcadia are an unsigned female-fronted band heralding from New York where they formed in March 2009, and over the four years they have been together the quintet have begun to make a name for themselves. They proclaim their genre to be "emo-pop" but somehow remain unique and a black sheep amongst the category.
Their first EP "City By The Sea" was released in 2009, a mere six months after their formation thanks to the support of producer Paul Leavitt who has worked alongside artist such as All Time Low and Senses Fail. The powerful EP made My Arcadia really stand out for an indie band and they were named one of the twenty top unsigned artists in PureVolume.
Although over time they have been compared to the likes of Paramore and Hey Monday they keep their selves separate from the many replicates in the subgenre of rock industry, with their pop vocals supported by hardcore guitar to create a brilliant combination.
In 2011 they went on to release a single called "My Pioneer" which helped them build a fan base that allowed them a spot during the 2011 warped tour; and in 2012 the "Stay EP" appeared. It's filled with commanding music and lyrics that showed how they developed but also stay true to the music style they established for themselves.
Currently the band are touring over America, mainly focusing to the east coast where they call home but drifting in and out of the studio. Their Twitter feed is filled with photos and videos of their daily workings as a band. With only 2191 followers on Twitter and 6254 likes on Facebook, the band is still relatively unknown despite their hard work. For fans of the pop-punk, emo and even the post-hardcore genre this band is likely to suit your taste.
Dream on, give me reality
I'm on top of the world
It doesn't get any easier
Forming tongues of fire
Don't say we'll get older
Cause mortality can't kill me now - "Sail On"
