My Chemical Romance - Comments

• i see your point of view
but they could be 'life-savers' because before they're band was signed and all that junk they used to be like that too.
or at least some of them.
so etimes its just to see how others got through it that can help you get through it too.

• I understand you are voicing your opinion, there is nothing at ALL wrong with that. However, I do believe that your article was almost... too opinionated. It only showed one side of the argument. Maybe there would be more of a postive response if both sides or the story were shown. I know I haven't written any articles myself, so I may seem a bit odd writing this. However, I do know that to create a sucessful piece of journalism, it is essential to show BOTH side of a issue. I have already said that, I know, but I just want to keep the POINT clear.

• People, this person isn't bashing My Chemical Romance, do you not get that? Urgh. Some of you people on Mibba really annoy me; no one is allowed an opinion. Okay, I get the fact that maybe life isn't smooth riding for everyone. Trust me, I know. But there are always people worse off than you. You're not starving in a third world country. You haven't or aren't currently being molested and raped (if you are, I'm deeply sorry, I can relate somewhat).

I know that music has an effect on lives, and yes, I was once an avid My Chem fan. But now, when I listen to the lyrics, I don't feel the things I used to. You might think it's because I don't understand. I do understand. You're not the only bullied child in the world. You don't always have to find solace in bands such as My Chemical Romance and the like.

You made some good points, oh mighty author. It makes me feel good knowing there's people on Mibba other than me that like to write controversially. My Chemica Romance do have a few songs, and I myself know 95% of the lyrics to My Chemical Romance songs, and have written my fair share of MCR-fanfiction, but I'm not the ultimate fan. (I'm a different kid into McFy ;]).

And right now, I don't care if anyone's offended by this comment. Right now, I'm listening to my favourite band, a totally off topic acoustic version of one of my favourite songs, and it's not doing me any harm. Something about music saves lives, but not the bands. The songs, the lyrics, the voice, the way the music works. I just think My Chemical Romance have become over rated. And My comment is totally rambling, so I'll be off.

Kudos maytee. =]

• I. Love. You.

You'd think that people would appreciate bands with actual soul and depth more than bands like this who have to resort to making out with their band mates to get their audiences attention.

My Chemical Romance is barely mediocre to me. The lyrics are cliche and the vocals and range are horrible. [My opinion]

I think its sad that so many people are totally and completely obsessed with them, but only because half the people that claim to be so in love with them usually aren't. They just say they are because everyone else does. I don't have a problem with the true MCR fans. Only the ones psuedo-fans.

But seriously. Wait to be brave and go against this stupid craze. Kudos :]

• ...i like how u put a negative article on a band that is so loved but... that was pretty offensive im pretty sure im not brained washed...i am a fan that says mcr saves lives because they do!
August 11th, 2008 at 08:18pm
• By the way, although I don't agree with most of it, I still think it's a good article!
And pretty brave, seeing as we're on mibba xD
Please don't be offended by my comment -tis my opinion :P

• I think that article was a tad close minded and hurtful. Music has an uncanny ability to affect people in ways they never thought possible, and it doesn't matter who the band is, or what the song's like.
Yes, people have a right to state their own opinions, of course they do, but perhaps you should state your opinion when you have all the facts right.
They had a legion of fans far before The Black Parade was released, and their fans are not brainwashed. How are they brainwashed?!
It's like saying that you only like YOUR favourite band because you were brainwashed into doing so.
I do agree with you that some fans are just 12 year old girls who think Gerard is 'Hawt', but the majority of their fans are some of the most loyal fans that I've ever had the pleasure to meet. =)
I have never self harmed, but like any other teenager, I have had weak moments. I'm not claiming that My Chemical Romance have saved my life; all I know that is whenever I hear one of their songs, old or new, a huge grin spreads over my face and I can't help but feel strong, happy, and that I really am okay.

• I'm not talking bullshit, but I'm not agreeing with you because everybody has a right to state their opinion. All I'm saying is:

Last night, I was having one of my depressed times, I go like that every so often. I got out a razor blade and actually cut, just a small one, first and last time but then I thought of MCR and the lyrics and I put down the razor, threw it away and started listening to MCR.

So they helped me, didn't save my life but they helped me. I'm not saying they took the razor out of my hand.

• Haha. I read all of your reply comments and I got weak as a bitch. Haha.
July 3rd, 2008 at 01:22am
• You my friend, are stating the plain and simple facts. I honestly don't understand why there so "life-saving" either. And your right about the so called loyal fans. My friends all hate the band now that they claim to be so 'life saving'. I don't even understand how they came up saying they saved life's.

They don't, and I hate it when teenage kids all go around saying they did save their life's, they didn't the band doesn't know there fans. If anything actually listening to the band kind of depresses me. And that's after coming to an understanding of all the meanings in the song. I loved your article. And people I don't hate MCR, at all they just don't save live's and that's all.

• Urgh. Okay. Now some of these arguements are just getting insulting. And stereotypical.

1. You don't listen to the lyrics, so that's why you haven't witnessed their magical/godly properties.

Well, excuse me if that isn't the biggest generalisation in the world! Tell me, did you actually bother to ask if the people who don't like MCR have never heard the lyrics? I'm an ex MCR fan, so I can safely say I've heard the lyrics and absorbed them fully. I even wrote a one-shot based around some MCR lyrics! But you know what? Those lyrics didn't make me feel like I wasn't alone, or that I didn't have to "kill myself". In fact, if I remember correctly, MCR's lyrics if anything made me feel more down, and some of their songs actually made me cry at some points.

Next time, research your accusations, please.

2. MCR's music doesn't make sense to preps.

What the hell? That's like saying "emos can't appreciate Britney's funky tunes". Anyway, I thought you guys hated stereotypes? You know, seeing as you seem to get a little pissed off about the whole "emo death cult" thing. And if we must stick to childish stereotypes, do any of the people here suit the traits of a so-called "Prep"? I'll be honest with you- that comment made me roll my eyes so far back into my head that I caught a glimpse of my brain. You know, the thing you're supposed to use when you're proving a point?

So unless you refuse to acknowledge that *gasp* people have different likes and dislikes and start saying all non-MCR fans must be aliens or something, please construct your arguements around something a little less petty.

• Great! The only thing I didn't agree with was the 'not-so-loyal' fan base. I feel they have one of the most loyal fan bases in the world, but that's my opinion. I think it's really great that someone actually posted an unbiased review about My Chemical Romance. I guess I can't speak for others when I say this, but I really felt you did your absolute best not to insult anyone, the bands members or their fans included.

As I said, I completely agree with just about everything you said. They are 'toe-tap' and 'hum-along' worthy, but they are just a band. The best band that ever happened to me was Green Day [even though I don't like them as much now] and I wouldn't consider them a life-saving band. They just do what they love and people like it... just like My Chemical Romance.

Way to be brave and stand up for your beliefs, though. That took a lot of guts and I think it's really great that you did. ^_^

• i agree!!! some of my friends talk about them constantly and it is getting tiring. and all that jusk about it being lifsaving is unrealistic and opinionated. it reminds me of some songs in the 70's that i have heard and it's nosense words stuck together that are suposed to be a life changing message to you that you will understand when you are high. sound similar?? in my opinion and this is MY opinion so no bashing for not liking them but i think they are just a fad and like everything else, they will get old, life goes on etcc... if they are so life changing HA. i think that by now they have a following like the infamous dead heads and other such band cults. *sigh* and now all the dead heads have moved on thank god and so will the "romantics" and also i am not a prep in school but bashing them and jocks etc.. just b/c they are preps is ignorant and shows their insecurities. same reason bullies bully, better others then themselves, or i was hurt so i will hurt others too. it is a deadly cycle. what ever happened to being suprised by people's charector? and the preps most lifely have low self exteem themselves. bottem line- keep ur problems to urself or tell ur friends etc.. but don't put that on others just because ur messed up.
srry that got off topic. blah. ok, real bottom line, MCR is not that great. there, i said it.

• I guess you didn't need saving, but some people did,and as a loyal fan[no duh],I tell you how severly mistaken you are.Just cause they didn't help you, doesn't mean you're the only one. This band9as much as I hate lables,I must say it)was not ment to help preps, sure anyone can listen to them, but the people they have the real affect on are the people on the edge of sanity and life. This,as many other comments, probably will never get read,or change anyone elses mind, just as you didn't change mine. But regardless,I'm still putting it out here, cause if you can voice your opinon so can I!MCR appens to be a band that you have to relate to to really get into there music.Example:I'm Not OK(I Promise),if you've watched the video, you've seen the "ever felt alone" and all that part, well,if you've never felt alone, then that means nothing to you and won't until you do.If you've never felt angered than seeing Frank Iero jump out of a locker and scare the living shit out of a cheer leader, the only thing you think is probably "that was mean."If you've never felt wrong, then watching Gerard Way get an F on his test, you say "what an idiot".And If you've never felt wronged, then watching him get stabbed in the eye after getting the F,you feel absolutly nothing!I can't make you feel those things, and nothing but time and experience can either, but some kids DO know what its like to have these things happen to them, and then it really is helpful,it makes you laugh when teh cheerleader is scared and Frank has his revenge, and makes you feel pity when Gerard gets stabbed.Obviously by the way I'm rambling n and on and that you've probably stopped reading this by now,you can tell how strongly the other side feels. In the words of the lead singer of the band your dissing,Gerard Way:"Are You On Our Side And You Want To Be Different Or Are You On That Side And You Want To Throw A Football At My Head?" Choose carefuly.Cause hate is a strong word*quote Plain White T's*

Power to the vampires!Peace out!

• When I listen to My Chemical Romance, it makes me feel like they understand me. Like, I'm not the only person who feels the way I do. I can relate to their songs and they give me hope and strength that things will get better.
June 15th, 2008 at 08:20am
• You're like everyone else.
That's why you don't understand the songs.
These songs were created for outsiders.
If you're not an outsider, you wouldn't get it.
June 13th, 2008 at 01:38am
• Maybe they didn't save your life because your life doesn't need saving.
June 13th, 2008 at 01:35am
• Uh!
That's harsh!

MCR is awesome!

If you don't like them then fine.
But respect the people who do.

Say I don't understand why everyone says "MCR saved my life", not "MCR is not a life-saving band."

Voice your opinions while respecting others.
