She Said Yes

She Said Yes "She Said Yes" is the story of the Unlikely Martyrdom of Cassie Bernall. It tells her story through the eyes of her family and the people that surrounded her.

I love this book because it offers a unique vision of Cassie Bernall. When you first hear the story of Cassie, without first reading the book you think of Cassie as the perfect person, when deep below her surface she is a cracked and torn human being.

She battled demons such as her friend "Mona" a friend who tried to convince her that her parents were out to get her and that they would stop at nothing to ruin her life. The two wrote many letters and share many drawings of killing parents and how murder was the answer to all of Cassie's problems.

Cassie's mind was truly altered by her friends vision of the perfect life, the perfect crime, and the perfect way out of problems. So intertwined in it, that when her parent's moved her and her brother to a different school to get away from these problems she basically rebelled. Not knowing that it would be much better in the school - or not.

Her parent's enrolled her in a Youth Program sponsored by a church to get her head in order - this worked - but after months of this the unthinkable happened. You never thought so little speech could cause your death. Even more unbelievable is that her answer wasn't finished.

It really raises a question to me. I think about what I would do in that situation. She didn't really have to, because she knew the answer, weather it was a gun to her head, or a hands by her side. She was a hero, a true hero and I recommend this book to anyone because; it might not make you believe in god, but it will make you think. It may not make you strengthen your relationship with god; but it will make you think about it.

It makes you think...and that is whats important.
