The Pact by Jodi Picoult The Pact by Jodi Picoult is about two seventeen-year-olds, Emily Gold and Chris Harte. Emily and Chris have known each other, literally, forever. Chris, three months old at the time, had been in the operating room when Emily was born. After that, they became best friends, and, eventually, lovers.

His fingerprints on the gun, no gun powder on Emily’s hand, Emily had no signs of depression and was 11 weeks pregnant with Chris‘s child, signs of struggle, even the gun was shot at the wrong angle for her to do it herself.

Then again, how could Chris do it? He loved Emily with all his heart- that was plain to see. He swears he didn't. But then again, how could Emily have done it herself? What dark secrets could she have been harboring? What bad enough to kill herself? Chris hires a lawyer, and is taken to court. But what happens when even his own lawyer doesn't want to hear the truth? When nobody wants to hear what really happened November 7th, 1997?
