The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games Hunger games is one of those books that keeps you reading after midnight. It also keeps you thinking and wanting to read it over and over again. The Hunger Games is placed in the near future. People had rebelled against the government. Once the government beat the rebels, they divided the people into twelve separate districts to keep them from plotting again. To remind them what happens when they rebel they host the annual Hunger Games. These games are on live television. One boy and girl from each district go to compete against each other, to death.

Katniss who is sixteen and lives with her mother, that is still grieving over the massive mine blow up that killed her father. She has to take care of her younger sister. Then her world gets turned upside down when she is picked to go.

In the Hunger Games Katniss is lost between love and life, and survival and humanity. It focuses on her struggle to choose. All the while she is fighting to keep alive in the arena. This kept me thinking about it and still am. The book is extremely intense from start to end, you can’t stop reading. Can she survive the cruel punishment of the government or will she be killed?
