Children of Freedom

Children of Freedom The second world war first took place in 1939, and stretched out many years of hate and anger. When a resistance group is formed, two young brothers decide to join. All the members of the group are young, some from African families and all over Europe, but they all have one thing in common; they are all passionately involved and comitted to the freedom of France and Europe.

Because they are not all welcomed by other French groups, the Brigade 35 is formed. (A Brigade is a military unit). For most of them, their family lies within this group, that propelled their feelings of love and frienship. But not all lasts for long; a traitor is suspected when the brothers are arrested and many members of the Brigade 35 are killed. The tensions between former comrades and other resistance fighters mounts, and all this against the desperate hope that the invasion by the allies is really drawing near, and will rescue them all.

Marc Levy was born October 16th and is famous as a French novelist, having Children of Freedom written and published in 2008. This book of 338 pages, will make you laugh and cry, and deserves a spot on my Wall of Favourites to get some recognition. If you are thuroughly interested in the idea and plot lines of war, this book is the book for you.
