Assassin - Anna Myers

Assassin - Anna Myers Arabella's mother died when she was only eight and her father couldn't handle it. He sends her to live with his mother in Washington DC. She is a talented seamstress for President Buchanen's wife, spending much of her time in the White House. She allows Bella to come with her to the White House to learn about being a seamstress, even though Bella loves the theater.

She soon made friends with the child of a servant, Steven.

Wilkes is a young actor from a wealthy southern family whose loyalties lie with the Confederacy.

He is angered when America elects that savage Lincoln. He know he'll try to abolish slavery, which he loathed the idea of.

Bella and Steven think Mr. Lincoln is a kind man, especially because someone of his status took the time to talk to mere servants' children.

Steven tells Bella to go to Ford's theater, in hopes of getting a job making costumes to be closer to her dream.

Soon, she crosses paths with a man named Wilkes Booth, a famous actor and also said to be the handsomest man of the time. She is enchanted by him, and forgets her blooming romance with Steven (who was currently away at school).

He convinces her to help him with a favor by influencing her with his charm and promises of roles in plays.

I have to say, this book was fabulous. Even though history books spoiled the ending as to what happened to Abraham Lincoln, me being all emotional, I cried. It was so sad.
