Such A Pretty Girl

Such A Pretty Girl They promised me nine years of safety but only gave me three.
Today my time has run out.

Such a Pretty Girl follows the story of Meredith, a teenager who was sexually abused by her father when she was younger. After the rape, her father is taken away and imprisoned. They promised Meredith five years of safety, the amount of time it would take her to get to her legal age. Instead, her father gets let out for "good behavior" after three years.

Today, her time has run out.

When her father comes home, she is less than happy to see him, which actually surprises him, and her mother, who's constantly obsessing over him and how glad she is to finally have him home.

We follow Meredith as she runs for safety constantly. She finds refuge with Andy, the handicapped love of her life who was also sexually abused, and his mother Paula Meus, a religious old woman who once knew Meredith's father, before he sexually abused her son, and believes Andy will be able to walk again on day.

There's also Phil, a retired police officer living in the condo complex, and is only concerned with Meredith's safety.

Then, there's Meredith's grandmother, the mayor of the New Jersey small town and is disappointed her father did not receive the death penalty for not only hurting her, but other children as well.

You won't be able to put this book down as you read through Meredith's encounters with her father and the people helping plan his demise. When Andy leaves on a retreat to some "soul" with his mother to walk again, will Meredith be able to avoid her father's plans, or will she succumb?

An amazing read written by Laura Wiess about the before and aftermath of sexual abuse, you won't regret reading a single word, and the story will be imprinted in your mind forever.

"And it was wrong. Wrong and unfair that he could have done what he did and be allowed back for more. Wrong that no one will stop him.
I will stop him."
