Spore: The Game That got the World Talking

Spore: The Game That got the World Talking The world of digital gaming- a lonely, secluded corner of society, only guarded by its followers that churns out negative stereotypes at an aggressive pace.
But why is it like this? The answer is simple- games create a fantasy world for people to get lost in, and very rarely have anything realistic tied to them besides guns. The entities that games bring up are trivial, and usually nobody except concerned parents care enough to intervene.

So what makes Spore different? Why does Spore deserve pages and pages of media coverage, while Grand Theft Auto and Unreal Tournament barely even appear in two sentence reviews? The answer lies in everything that humanity finds important, because Spore is based on Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and supports the planet's scientific community in the "Where did Man come from?" argument, consequently colliding head-on with the religious community who believe in the theory of Creationism- that is the theory of the Earth and all its contents being created roughly ten thousand years ago, solely by the hand of one divine creator. Anything that blatantly supports two of the most colossal, yet delicate, theories such as these when it is not in the Church or the laboratory, inevitably causes heated conversation.

This factor also relates to the next reason why this game is a controversy. Although we don't like to admit it, humans have a fascination with themselves. We enjoy learning more about our origins as well as our future. We enjoy creation and alteration of ourselves without any consequences in reality- another reason why this game has proved successful so far. And don't try to deny this, pesky human- The Sims is the best selling game in the world, and that was just control over a single household. Spore provides control over entire races and galaxies over a span of billions of years.

So there you have it. All the reasons why this game is so talked about. There is one more reason, though: It's really a lot of fun...
