Assassin's Creed II

Assassin's Creed II As a follow-up to Ubisoft's 2007 hit, has it smoothed out the flaws taking blood stomping through renaissance Italy to a whole new level?

With an ingenious plot taking place in the infamous renaissance Italy, the story starts out with a bang, introducing Desmond Miles as the game's main character. Desmond is sprung from jail and introduced to a band of assassins within their secret hideout, and having the resources and technology of The Animus, is able to relive the life of his past ancestor, Ezio Audituerre.

Think back to history class; the plot line in 15th century Florence, Italy pulls together a grand mix of The Matrix, a lot of historical fiction, and something out of a Dan Brown novel. It was put together by some of the most talented writers in game development.

Another one of the Pro's would be the beautifully and carefully designed streets of Florence, the animations, the art and the characters are all wonderfully and exceptionally portrayed. In addition to good looks, the second game gives the first one a title of 'Unfinished and amateurish', completely outdoing almost everything the first Assassin's Creed had to offer. But, not everything is about how the game is represented; movement of Ezio was tricky. Whilst playing, jumping and running from building to building was somewhat of a challenge; your character would move from the slightest touch of that d-pad (or joystick), and it ended up looking like he was glitching out so badly, it resembled itself as Spiderman on crack.

But, all in all, the game remarkably outdid itself and kept me hooked for a long time.

My rating is a 5/5.
