So ... much .... game-play. I haven't even hardly started the main quest after several hours. It's definitely up there in my top three favorite games, and that's sayings something for an avid gamer like me.
To Nick: Bravo to Bethesta for making the truly stunning graphics engine. However Bethesta perfected the engine early 2008 and better engines such as MW3 and Battlefield 3 have thrashed Skyrim in the way of graphics... look at the gauntlets on some armour, theyre a little rushed. Doesnt matter though, Skyrim is by far my game of the year... scratch that make it game of the decade, I really an't get enough.
Plus, if you're someone who's played every elder scrolls game to date, it's absolutely stunning how much better it is. Even between Oblivion and Skyrim, it was unbelievable how much it had improved. But between Morrowind and Skyrim? It's mind-blowing.
I can't say I totally agree with the idea that Skyrim's graphics aren't up to par with MW3 and Battlefield 3. Bethseda built the Creation Engine, Skyrim's new graphic engine, from scratch. MW3's engine is the same one from MW1, only slightly updated with blooming effects for the blur you see in game. While Battlefield 3 is absolutely beautiful as well, DICE doesn't seem to push the Frostbite 2 engine to it's very limit. Just my opinion though, it really depends on what you want from a game. This was a well written article all around, and I can say that Skyrim is going to be stealing days, weeks, months, and maybe years off my life for a long time. xD
The first thing that struck me in this game is once you're free the graphics... oh my god. Wandering around these green forests with sparkling water and butterflies floating around. The graphics are just... amazing.
Gah, hearing everyone talk about how awesome it is, is making me want it to be Christmas already so I can play it! Though viewing the trailer on YouTube it does look absolutely brilliant!!
I wouldn't be a true gamer if I didn't say there were things I dind't like about the game although there are many cons to owning it as well. I have to agree there were some things I missed in Skyrim that were in Oblivion, like the fact that the direction bar at the top is confusing, and how do you find the people who sell you the houses, but all in all a really awesome game.
I found myself wishing it was Oblivion all over again just because of it's familiarity compared to Skyrim. Almost everything is new and improved, leaving me to scratch my head at times. I must say that the dragons are very detailed and graphically beautiful. My favorite thing to do so far is to find the shout words and visiting the Greybeards. I'm still quiet confused as to who are the good guys and bad guys in "Besthesda" terminology. I've listened to both sides and still can't figure out who are actually trying to help Skyrim.
What it boils down to is that the game is a must have for fans of Fallouts and Elder Scrolls.
I liked your article by the way. I'm glad there are people who love gaming on here! LOL
quite possibly the best game ever. i hate whoever doesn't have it. my boyfriend and i have basically forgotten about eachothers existences because we've both been playing it since it came out.
