The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Based on the book by C.S Lewis that sold over 100 million, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe brings to life the land of Narnia and all its magical creatures.

Escaping The Blitz during World War II, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie are sent to live with Professor Kirke. Lucy manages to enter the wintry kingdom of Narnia through a wardrobe in a spare room first in an innocent game of hide-and-seek. There, she meets Mr. Tumnus under the famous lamppost. After Mr. Tumnus tells her of the White Witch and her plan to exterminate any human that comes wandering into Narnia, he helps Lucy escape back to the real world, where no time has passed.

At first, Lucy’s three other siblings are skeptical about this idea of a magical land in a wardrobe. But one night, Edmund follows Lucy into Narnia and meets the White Witch, who offers him Turkish Delight in return to bring his family to Narnia. Susan and Peter still don’t believe about Narnia.

Then, when the children break a window, they hide in the wardrobe and stumble into Narnia. Finding out about Tumnus’ arrest from two talking beavers, they set out towards the Stone Table, where Aslan has an army awaiting to defeat the White Witch. As Aslan is the real king of Narnia, the children feel like they cannot refuse. According to a prophecy, two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve would defeat the White Witch.

The way that Walden Media creates the characters brings the magic of imagination to life. Aslan, the beavers, and the other wild creatures look very realistic. Also, the costumes are not disappointing. The costume designers did a great job.

Also, the job with picking the right cast was well done. William Moseley played a great overprotective brother and Skandar Keynes played the jealous, littler brother part very well. They made a great choice for the logical and pretty Susan, played by Anna Popplewell, and Georgie Henley is amazing at the cute-little-girl parts. The part of the evil White Witch played by Tilda Swinton is outstanding, while James McAvoy gives a great performance as Mr. Tumnus.

The movie brought together the love of a family broken in WWII, sacrifice and friendship. It was appropriate for an array of audiences, meeting and going beyond expectations of lovers of the book.
