Psycho (1960)

Psycho (1960) Ever since it was released in 1960, this Alfred Hitchcock thriller has been keeping audiences on the edge of their seats throughout the entire movie.

In an attempt to help out her in-debt lover Sam Loomis, Marion Crane steals 40, 000 $ in cash from her office and heads from Phoenix, Arizona, to California, where Sam lives.

After a run-in with a suspicious policeman and trading her car in for another to throw anyone on her trail off track, Marion finds herself in the middle of a terrible storm. She finally decides to stop at Motel Bates, where she meets the owner, the rather odd and boyish Norman Bates, who offers to serve her dinner, and mentions that he's caring after his elderly invalid mother. As the film progresses, we often hear arguments between Norman and his mother.

In probably one of the most infamous film scenes conspired, Marion climbs into the tub for a shower, only to be startled by the figure of a woman brandishing a knife. The figure stabs at Marion until she falls to the bottom of the tub, dead. A queasy Norman returns to clean up the mess, packing Marion and her belongings into her car and driving it into a nearby swamp.

As the movie progresses, Marion's relatives search for her, and question Norman Bates in the process. As clues pile up, a plot twister unfolds and we come to learn that Norman may not be exactly who he says he is, and neither is his mother.

A definite classic and must-see, Psycho is a scream of a thriller.
