Push

Push I saw this movie about a week ago, and loved it. Dakota Fanning made a triumphant return with more maturity. Chris Evans also played his role really well. Also, Camilla Belle, who was a lead in 10,000 B.C., portrayed her character pretty well. The storyline has been overused however. People with superpowers being tracked down. But Push entertained me.

When the movie was first advertised, critics were all over it, calling Push a "must-see". But, when the movie was finally out in theaters, the critics had enough. Entertainment Weekly defined Push as a weightless, style-driven thriller set in a photogenically chaotic Hong Kong. Filmcritic.com also degraded Push saying that it had nothing compelling to say and doesn't add any voice to its own genre.

I, on the other hand, I thought the movie was very well-done. The superpowers were very creative. Aside from having telekinesis, other powers included having a powerful scream, which could glass and people's heads explode. The acclaimed "most powerful" ability however was being able to put things into peoples minds, push them to do things. Does that sound familiar? Matt Parkman from Heroes has the same ability. In Push, however this power could make you think that someone is your best friend or a long-lost family member. Another power that may bring anyone back to Heroes is painting the future, which is Dakota Fanning's power.

This movie was unpredictable. You could never be too sure of what would happen next. The scenes vary, from Dakota Fanning being drunk to the group's search for a suitcase. The movie ended with a cliffhanger, anyone smells a sequel?
