p.s. to all of you talking about a sequel... the rumors are true. "Phantom: Love Never Dies" comes out in London next March, and on Broadway next November. You can listen to the new song "'Til I Hear You Sing" on youtube. :)

I do indeed love the movie, and Gerard Butler, but nothing, nothing, will ever compare with the original play. Ever. With Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. Brilliant. Also, if you've only seen the movie and not the play, I suggest you go see the play. It's magical in every form of the word.
The Phantom of the Opera was originally a French novel by Gaston Leroux (may have mispelled his name) While the musical and movie are wonderful, they do the book no justice. It is simply phenomenal. Anyway, I was so jealous when I found out that one of my friends had seen this on Broadway. In my opinion, the best musicals are those that are based off of the classics (Jekyll and Hyde, Les Miserables etc.) I highly reccommend those two to anyone who fell in love with the Phantom of the Opera.
I saw the Broadway play. It was amazing. Andrew Lloyd Webber is an absolute musical genius. I love all of his stuff, but I definitely think that Phantom is his best work.
The film was also such a great adaptation of the musical. I absolutely love it. I've seen it dozens of times, yet it never gets old. Gerard and Emmie made a perfect duo.
