The Final Destination

The Final Destination Have we seen it all before? I'm afraid, yes, we have. In the first part and then in all the sequels that followed. Was it bad? Not at all. It was a fine watch. It opens up with four young people taking a break from studying, blowing off steam at the car race. Suddenly, one of them starts seeing omens of impending doom; getting dozens of people that were shouting, supporting and losing their minds over their favorite car driver, killed.

Petrified and frightened to death, he slightly panics and manages to escape death. This time. His three friends, just like a couple of others, also dodge the terrifying hands of death.
And the game begins. Just like in the previous parts, they do wonders trying to stay alive. But can you really avoid what’s bound to happen? Can you mess up the plans of death? At least in this movie. No. Death is on every path they take, taking them one by one.

Now, seeing that death won’t back off, they come up with another plan: break the circle. Meaning, they have to double cross death and hinder its work of taking another’s life. Can they do it? Can they outsmart the higher power? Just when they thought they had, twist. Mysterious death was always around, playing with them, letting them think they had control over the situation.

While the first part was something new, the others were just rip-offs. Same story of seeing the future with the same gore level. Just different actors with different potentials. They tried to keep the drama dose up high but, in my opinion, failed. At least in the final piece. The plot wasn’t that well worked out, it was rather based on the creativity and numbers of death. One by one marching out of the silver screen.

But don’t get me wrong; it was a nice piece. You don’t have to use your brain that much, just watch and count the dead. And try to guess how the next person is going to die. There is a twist at the end. Expected? Unexpected? See for yourself. Find out if the final destination was final in the true meaning of the word.
