New Moon

New Moon After reading the Twilight books, I was hyped about the film, I mean, it played out in my head like a film anyway, I could see these characters and make them into my own little plays. But then I watched the first Twilight film, and truthfully I didn't like it. They missed out parts of the book that I thought had been important, they added things that seemed unnecessary, they didn’t follow the story line, the actors didn’t look or sound right, didn’t seem to be acting very well and also the special affects were abysmal.

I felt a little bit reluctant to go and see the sequel, the only reason I went was to get me out of Christmas shopping and to see Jacob Black topless. I was happily surprised. My friend had told me there was a new director, not that I was paying attention after a bag of Skittles, and that he was supposed to be better then the last, but I still didn’t think it would work as well.

They didn’t miss much out. There was the odd line that didn’t come in that I had hoped would, also two of the werewolves were missing but compared to number 1, it was pretty much the book on a screen. They also didn’t add in too much bad things, they were able to add things like Harry’s heart attack that weren’t in the book, but it wasn’t pathetically done.

The actors have been put all over the internet, telly, cinema screen, my lessons. It now seems like they were made for the part. Jacob was the younger, unaware boy we see as the friendship blossoms, the harsher Jacob when he is around Edward, the protective and agile werewolf. It worked a lot better then I remembered. Edward was serious and passionate just like it seemed he now should be. And Bella was as whiny as she was in the book, she had been hurt, she found her new love and then returned to the old one and acted like a 35 year old all the way through the film.

The acting didn’t seem as wooden this time round. The characters seemed a lot more real and that was an improvement.

The special affects were so much better. The runner looked faster, the glitter looked like diamonds and the transformations may as well of happened. Victoria looked like she really was flying through the air and the eyes reminded me of honey. It may have had something to do with a bigger budget but everything about this film was better then the first. And hopefully Eclipse will be even better.
