New Moon: Did It Live Up To Our Expectations?

New Moon: Did It Live Up To Our Expectations? I was excited when I first saw the New Moon trailer despite the fact that I have been a little bored of Twilight lately.

New Moon that has just hit the theaters has had thousands of fangirls from around the world dying to see it. For many, the movie would have been a huge treat, yet for those who are used to watching real good movies and have been having high expectations from the New Moon trailer, disappointment would likely be in store for them.

The movie starts off Bella's dream, just as in the book, on her birthday then it continues through school and onto the birthday scene where Jasper loses his control, and we all know what happens after that. In those terms, the content of the movie was fine, except that there was one fatal flaw: the Alice - Bella relationship. In the first movie, Alice was barely a major part, and all of a sudden her name is always on Bella's lips. During her depression, Bella is always thinking about Edward, yes, but also always hoping to talk with Alice. It was confusing, it made me feel as if I have missed out a big chunk of the story, which, technically, should not be missed. Because of this, we know that there is a Bella-Alice bond, be it is just hard to feel, and it becomes awkward instead.

Despite how pretty and cool Kristen looks, I still think that she isn't a good Bella. Some parts, she handles her role excellently, while others is just plain bad acting. In fact, there is a feel that she hasn't quite managed to get a grasp of her role fully. While there is no smile, there is also not enough depression emitted from her acting. This becomes the fatal flaw of the New Moon because the movie is just too focused on her. True enough, she is the main role, but movies, as we all know, are supposed to edit the storyline to make it a good film.

Taylor Launter was a pretty good Jacob towards the later part of the movie. They also portrayed the Jacob/Bella emotion that the book sort of lack off really well, so well that it kind of became a disappointment that Bella turns back to Edward. Still, for those who are team Jacob, like me, it's a plus.

The acting of the general cast is also slightly better than the first film, Alice Cullen and the Volturi were the especially awesome ones. The Volturi fight and Jacob vs. Alive is a must see for Twilight fans. It is because of these scenes, and some of the other Jacob parts, that I actually think the movie was worth the watching. Though, personally, I wanted a lot more of Emmett, Jasper, and the Volturi.

The film seems to be skimming on the surface and never really focusing on a scene. It's as if it's trying to fit too much into the movie that it gets, not exactly crammed, but really out of focus and less absorbing.

Overall, there are some goods and bads; also, there are less funny scenes than the previous movie, especially Charlie that comes to me, personally, as a slight disappointment. Jasper and Emmett, however, are awesome in this movie... Of course, they only appeared something like two or three times. Still, if you're a fan of the books, it isn't a bad movie, but if you're feeling like watching a real good movie, New Moon isn't it.

I'll rate it 6.5/10. You can consider me as a person who like good, well made movies and perhaps with a little more money inserted into it.
