Avatar

Avatar Avatar was a film that was very expensive to make in the long run, even by Hollywood standards. The movie its self cost $310,000,000 to make and unlike other movies, most of the funds didn't go to paying the actors. The fees that went to the actors are nothing that went to special effects and making the movie 3D.

The story of Avatar is set on the planet called Pandora, it is a story filled with action, romance and genocide, three things that don't tend to be mixed. I myself enjoyed the action scenes but they reminded me too much of the game Halo.

Some of the machinery and guns put forward in avatar were very similar to those of Halo. When James Cameron the director was asked; 'isn't this just Halo?' he replied 'isn't Halo just aliens?'

Cameron had been reaching for this film ever since he made the Hollywood blockbuster Titanic in 1997 but of course back in 1997 Cameron wasn't able to access the technology that is available today. Avatar was obviously put to the back of Cameron's mind for further reference and he released it in 2009.

Avatar's story is good but predictable, I have been studying this movie in college therefore I have had to watch parts of this movie over and over, I can see the artistic value this movie holds, I can see the connotations of parts of the scenes but I cannot see the value in the movie its self.

The story was literally too predictable and the movie was too long. The movie lasts over three hours, this is fine for an action packed movie but I'm afraid that this movie drags towards the middle and gets a little repetitive. All in all, Avatar is a fine movie but not one that I'd want to watch again.

My rating: 7.5/10
