Darling Despicable

Then Despicable Me is the one for you. In this 3-D animated, cleverly written family-friendly movie, super villain Dr. Gru adopts three little orphan girls from Miss Hattie’s Home for Girls; mature Margo, spunky Edith and adorable Agnes, as mere pawns in a grand scheme of stealing the moon because he is constantly upstaged by a younger villain, an egotistical nerd, Vector. However, Gru, who, by the end of the movie, reads the girls bed time stories and kisses them good night, instead develops a profound love for the young trio.

Each girl is special in her own way, like Margo’s over protectiveness of her younger siblings, Edith’s mischievousness, and Agnes’ being irresistible and her undying love for stuffed unicorns. It is revealed that Gru has had a strained relationship with his mother growing up and even until his adulthood, and this prevents Gru from being attached emotionally with the girls at first.

Gru’s army of yellow pill-shaped minions, with their goggles and overalls, contribute largely to the amount of humor in this film, with their cute, gibberish dialogs and comical scenes, it’s hard not to fall in love with each one of them. Although their sole purpose in the main plotline is unclear, my best bet is to just make the audience laugh a little harder.

In conclusion, Despicable Me is witty, filled with a lot of action and suspense (for the kids, of course.) Children will be charmed and content, parents won’t be disappointed. This film depicts not just that the moon is impossible to steal, but the strength and power of a father’s love. It’s a wonderful movie to see with the family or a bunch of friends, with a guaranteed feeling of warmth and happiness right after.
