Tron Legacy

Tron first showed up to the big screen in 1982, it being revolutionary in the CGI world and how the computer can be perceived. The movie was a complicated but easy to learn storyline, that made normal video games look like the little handheld ones you get in Happy Meals at McDonald's. The remake was much anticipated with Jeff Bridges returning to play his part of Kevin Flynn, the man who invented the video game for the people, but invented a whole other world only using his imaginary thinking of "what if?" The CGI in the 2010 version was mind blowing. The way they created the streaming lights behind the motorcycles that Sam (Beau Garrett) drove or the massive car that Quorra (Olivia Wilde) drove, was simply awe inspiring. The real work in the movie though, was making Jeff Bridges look 20 years younger than he actually was. It hasn't been done, at least successfully before, but in this movie it was believable. As soon as the movie started, at least for me, I was hooked on what was going to happen in this movie.

The movie had good acting and amazing music, which was done by Daft Punk. It's not always that the music makes the movie, but in this case it definitely helped. During dramatic scenes, the music would tone out what was going on. The music also added a huge techno vibe to the movie, making it seem almost retro. The movie itself was just as a good as the music, but seemed to get a bit dry in areas. The movie held surprises though that you would have never thought of. The disc that every program or in this case user as well, carries on there back is like a guide to their life, and carries what seems like DNA. It a profile, that is revolutionary, especially with Quorra. She loses an arm in the movie, and the up to date, Kevin Flynn, takes the damaged strand out of the DNA looking model, and her arm literally regrows itself. The things from buildings to how the ground is, is completely futuristic and it makes you wish it actually existed in real life.

The movie was predictable in some ways than others. They didn't make it so you could already say the next line, they made it so you knew what was coming, you just didn't know when or how. The main goal in the movie is to get out, but you have to go through a portal, which from ground view looks like it's up in the sky. The journey to the portal is the whole movie almost, but it's an incredible ride there. They take a plane and even a freight train to the portal. The movie also is a game between cat and mouse, with Kevin Flynn's creation of himself, Clue, is trying to make sure Kevin does not get out of the world but he does.

I've seen this movie twice so far. Once in 3D and another in Imax. Not all the movie is shot in 3D but even if you see in normally the colors and the sounds used make up for it. The movie offers something for everyone. It has action and adventure, romance, and just a pinch of comedy. The movies is clean, not using curse words and no raunchy scenes of blood and gore. You could take your kid to see it and it's a nice date movie as well.

Overall, I give this movie a big thumbs up or a 9/10. The second time around seeing it, it didn't get old but it was like I was watching it for the first time again. I would recommend this to just about anyone. I'd put the CGI under Avatar because the whole Tron world was CGI and you couldn't tell that it was fake. The acting was awesome as well as the music, which I would go check out. I would say see the movie, and I can guarantee you'll love it.
