The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas The Nightmare Before Christmas carries Tim Burton's quirky direction in a somewhat different take on Christmas. The film itself has become a cult success and is immensely popular among teenagers. It has since been made into a platform game for all the popular gaming consoles, influenced the Disneyland ride The Haunted Mansion and has been referenced to in numerous video games, songs and other films.

When you watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, you can really understand where it's success has spawned from. Generally the more indie and Gothic culture is ignored in the film industry. However, Tim Burton's quirky style of directing and his art direction has put a stop to that. The story line is extremely interesting and provides a very interesting version of Christmas.

The story revolves around the world of 'Halloween Town', a place where anything can exist. The inhabitants spend their lives planning the terror that is October 31st. The creatures are directed by a tall skeleton in a pinstripe suit, Jack Skellington. As the story progresses, Jack stumbles across 'Christmas Town' a world drowned in the natural cliches of Christmas. Assuming the role of Santa, Jack decides to embrace the festivities and shares the traditions of Christmas with the townspeople. You then watch the dwellers of 'Halloween Town' try to recreate Christmas, with hilarious results.

From the charming songs of the Oogie Boogie, to the romance atop Spiral Hill, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a heartwarming movie to watch on Christmas Eve, or any other day of the year. It brings all the expected delights of Burton's creepy art direction and talent as a producer. It definitely is a movie that any animation fan, Halloween fan or any other type of fan would be crazy to miss out on.
