Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever

The first Cabin Fever was a chilling tale of a group of friends trapped in a cabin with a flesh eating virus and how they turned against each other. Creepy, with the slightest touch of a twist at the end just to keep everyone interested.

Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, however, is set in a high school at prom. But of course this is no movie about the underdog getting the girl he likes (though of course that happens anyway), this is about teenagers surviving a deadly attack on their school after the water they've been drinking turns out to be infected.

Though it is most definitely supposed to be a horror movie, it does have some laughable moments perhaps to ease the tension. From one of the staff members taking a leak in the punchbowl (later one of the students remarks on how the punch "tastes like piss," well noticed) to the infected students throwing up into each others mouths. Obviously, laughable in the most disgusting way possible.

As the infection spreads through the prom (cue the prom queen screaming "Why is everyone looking at her? They should be looking at me!") three friends manage to escape. Alex, his friend John, and John's love interest Cassie. Of course they're not infection free and Alex is the first to go, leaving the two loved up couple to battle their way out of the school which is now over-run with the Contamination Control Division. They even get to confess their love and kiss, not that anybody saw that coming of course.

The film even has a few moments of it at the beginning and the end in a cartoon, comic style which just adds some more humor to the film and is decidedly different from the first movie, though not in a bad way.

Cabin Fever 2 definitely has some good look-away-now-if-you're-squeamish moments, but thankfully it's not totally gore-fueled. Thanks to the possibly unintentional humorous moments in the film, it's definitely a good movie to watch despite some poorer reviews on it when it was released.
