Juno

Juno Directed by Jason Reitman, and written by Diablo Cody, this film will make you think twice about normalcy. It's a hilarious, fall-out-of-your-seat comedy that shows the "bumps" of teenager Juno Macguff's (Ellen Page) life.

After Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera), a not-very-popular, jogging friend and Juno decide to have sex, this film shows the point of view from a teenager's side for once. Juno ends up getting pregnant. Upon finding out this incredible life-changing event, she decides to get an abortion. After a few minutes to think, she leaves the clinic, making a huge decision to change her life, her baby's life, and another lucky couple's life.

After finding an ad in the "wanted" section of her local newspaper, Juno decides to let these two lovers adopt her baby. A relationship between her and the adoptive father grows, when suddenly the adoptive father (played by Jason Bateman) shares news that will change everyone's life - again.

By the time spring comes, Juno is nearly nine months pregnant-- and showing it. Her baby goes into the loving hands of Vanessa Loring (Jennifer Garner), the adoptive mother, letting Juno carry on her life with Paulie, her father, and her supportive step mother.

Lasting only ninety-one minutes, laughs were everywhere. Nearly every line had the theater hunched over in tears. Personally, I found myself laughing, as well. It was completely original - Very Napoleon Dynamite - esque - but better.

With mostly a female audience, this nominated Film of the Year was perfect. I am sure every girl in the theater could relate to Juno in some way, whether it was her troubles with her peers, family, or "friend" Paulie.

Juno has already been nominated for twenty-six awards, winning fourteen of them, such as: Audience Award, Audience Choice Award, Satellite Award, Phoenix Films Critics Society Award, National Board of Review (USA) Award, Special Prize of the Young Jury Award, Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association Award, and Chicago Film Critics Association Award. Filmed in Canada and produced in the USA, this film has scored a huge $52,032,000 in the US box office.
