Anastasia - Disney Without the Disney - Comments

  • I love this article!
I didn't actually realize how big "Anastasia" was. When I was little, it was a favorite movie of mine and my sister's, but none of our friends or their parents had ever heard of it. Now that I'm older, my opinion hasn't changed a bit and I'm always trying to get my friends to sit down and watch it with me! The acting is still amazing, the plot line is still real--even though it isn't--Rasputin still gives me the creeps, and I still get chills during "Once Upon a December!"
Thank you for writing this article and giving this beautiful movie some attention. The title is very accurate--it truly is "Disney without the Disney."
Okay, now I'm gonna go watch this movie again!

  • I love how this is such a beautiful film and I feel it's even more valuable not being a Disney film: it has merit for it's actual self and not just for it's title if it were a Disney movie. I watched this last year after not seeing it for YEARS and I can't say I loved it any less! The animation is beautiful and the voice cast are fantastic, and I can't say I don't love those creepy or frightening moments including Rasputin ;) Great review!

  • I'll always have a sour spot for Don Bluth and what he did to the Disney Studios (just his motives kind of irked me), but really Anastasia is absolutely beautiful. My storyboarding professor worked on this movie as a coloring director and he brags about it all the time. I don't try to stop him because I agree, Anastasia is a visually beautiful film.
