The remake of I Spit on Your Grave is the film I'll be covering in my next review. A truly great film. In fact, however, the 1978 original was originally titled "Day of The Woman".

Thanks for your great comments guys!

I don't like movies filled with gore and violence, so I don't see myself watching this movie at all, ever. I especially wouldn't because I don't encourage animal cruelty, no matter how long ago this was shot.

A very well written article though :)

GORE!! :) This movie is good for the time it was made in. Like others such as: Friday 13th (1980's), Necromantik (1987) and I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE (1978). It sucks that they killed animals cause I'm a vegetarian and I hate that, but hey... it's a good movie xD

I watched the film and horror movies usually don't get to me like this, but every scene where an animal was slaughtered made me absolutely sick to my stomach. I doubt I'll ever watch Cannibal Holocaust again because of how sick the animal cruelty in the movie made me.

The effects of the movie and the way it was filmed is very nicely done though. There were a number of deaths in the film that looked real, it does look like a genuine snuff film. The movie is pretty heavy with a lot of what it features from the graphic and very realistic death scenes to the graphic rape and abortion scenes. It's definitely not for people who are squeamish or faint of heart.

Nicely written article, by the way.

Really interesting article. I've never heard of this - and it's unlikely that I'll ever watch a film like this - but it's a definitely an interesting case.

I refuse to watch it since they actually killed animals to make it. It's disgusting that someone would mutilate an animal for entertainment purposes.

It's an awesome movie and incredibly amazing for being shot in the late 70s. I don't agree with the slaughtering of animals but the fact that he made the actors go into hiding is hilarious - like who does that now a days??!?!?! Also I'm pretty sure with the monkeys, they gave the brains to a native tribe because it was a special food to them. I wish horror movies were still like this because everything about this movie was so good. The cinematography was brilliant especially for the time it was made in and the 'scary' music they used makes me laugh so hard every time I hear it. Cannibal Holocaust is a one of a kind movie but it isn't for the faint of heart.

I have never actually seen the film myself - but I am completely aware on the debates surrounding it. I tend to look into films and controversy and Cannibal Holocaust is one of the few movies with such large amounts of debate and acts placed against it. I'm a big film nerd, aha. :)

The entire premises of this movie is so racist. I have a friend who is into cheesy gory movies like this, and I watched 20 minutes and I immediately longed for my time back. I had no idea about the controversy with the Italian government though, that's an interesting history lesson =]
