A Thousand Words

A Thousand Words is a heartwarming new comedy starring Eddie Murphy, Cliff Curtis, Clark Duke, and Kerry Washington.

The film follows Jack McCall, played by Eddy Murphy, a publicist, father, husband, and loving son. Jack uses his words to make book deals and he is very communication savvy, but everyone knows that actions speak louder than words, and that is a lesson that Jack will soon have to learn. When Jack gets a deal with Dr. Sinja, a new age faith healer and religious guru, a magical tree is transported to his home. With every word Jack speaks, a leaf falls from the magical tree. When the tree gets hurt, Jack gets hurt. When the tree dies, Jack will die. The curse forces Jack to look within himself and learn the importance of love, family, and saying what you mean.

The movie was funny, charming, witty, and an all-around good time. It wasn’t exceptional, but it is definitely worth a watch. The acting was good and Clark Duke, who played Jack’s assistant, was incredible. His acting was amazing and his character was hilarious, awkward, and my favorite in the film. The movie had quite a few moments that made me tear up, and even more moments that made me laugh.
