End of Watch
End of Watch is an emotional new action film that hits all the marks.
Cast
Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Brian Taylor, a hardworking cop who always goes above the call of duty. Gyllenhall did an amazing job with his character, taking the overdone cop character to a different place. Michael Pena costars as Mike Zavala, Taylor’s reliable partner. Pena’s part added something special to the film that really made it stand out. Gyllenhall and Pena played off one another so well, and their chemistry on screen was phenomenal.
Plot
End of Watch follows Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala as they patrol the streets of Los Angeles. The two encounter the routine traffic stops, domestic disturbances, and rowdy neighborhoods that one would expect from newbie officers, but things soon get out of control. Not long after their patrol switch, the duo stumble onto a massive drug ring, and make enemies with the dangerous cartel gang along the way.
Review
End of Watch was a phenomenal film that told a new side of the daily lives of law enforcement officials. I walked away from the film with a new respect for cops, whether it was deserved or not. This film is the only one I have seen in a long time that actually made me feel something, and I think that alone makes it worth watching.
