Silent Hill: Revelation 3D

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D was released on October 26, 2012, and is based on the video game Silent Hill 3. It stars Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harrington, Sean Bean, Carrie-Ann Moss, and Malcolm McDowell.

The film takes place six years after the original. Sharon Da Silva, now a teenager, is on the run with her father, Christopher. Both take on the new identities of Heather and Harry Mason, in order to avoid the cult that has been hunting them for years.

Heather remembers nothing about the events of the first film, and is only left with horrific nightmares that she doesn't fully understand. On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, following the mysterious disappearance of her father, she finds herself drawn back into the demonic world of Silent Hill. It's there that Heather is forced to come to terms with who she really is, or risk being trapped forever.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D was delightfully creepy and had all the right elements of horror. You know, the kind of horror where the scene suddenly gets dead silent, and even though you're certain something scary is going to happen, you still jump and/or scream when it does. Any kind of movie that can successfully pull that off, automatically gets a high rating in my book.

The only negative I want to mention is that I was expecting more. I felt like there was so much non-stop action, that the real story line got a little lost in the mix. While I really appreciated what the movie had to offer in terms of nail biting, edge-of-your-seat fright, I just wish it had more depth to it, like the original did; though, no one really expects a sequel to top its original, right?

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed Revelation. I highly recommend it to those who are fans of unusual, demonic creatures and, of course, anyone who loves a good scare!
