The Fifth Element has been my favorite movie since I can remember. I watched it over and over as a child; now as an adult I can memorize the dialogue and scenes. Though, this movie was not meant for children, it enticed me with the colors and visual effects. It's defiantly a movie any science fiction lover would appreciate and a romance that any romantic would feel all warm and fuzzy about. This movie appeals to all audiences and it is a perfect way to spend two hours.

The Fifth Element is based in the twenty-third century and focused on Leeloo and Korben Dallas. Every five thousand years something evil appears to destroy life and the universe. The evil entity would bring the whole universe into darkness and only one thing can stop it. The fifth element, aided by the stones of water, earth, air and fire. Together they make something powerful that can save Earth and the rest of the universe. The fifth element, however, is not a stone; it's the perfect being, she goes by the name of Leeloo.

The movie starts when The Evil is spotted as a star-like, pulsating, sphere. It destroys one of Earth's spaceships and causes panic because it seems to grow with each pulse. A priest, who is from a long line of priests that hold the truth about The Evil, comes forward and explains what that it is. It will eventually destroy everything unless the fifth element can stop it. He then goes on and explains Earth needs all the elements, presented in a block of stone, and the fifth element that the Mondoshawan race has.

When the Mondoshawan are called they try to come to Earth to deliver the fifth element, but something happens. Their ship is shot down by hideous creatures that are the Mangalores. Who are being controlled by Mr. Zorg, who is actually being paid and instructed by The Evil itself to make sure nothing stops it. And the movie goes on with finding a single hand in the crash remains. Science is at its peak and scientists are able to recreate the individual with the small bits of DNA. That is where we meet Leeloo. She escapes the laboratory with inhuman strength and finds Korben Dallas.

Korben Dallas is a highly decorated, ex-military commander. He now spends his days as a poor taxi driver. When Leeloo falls though the roof his car he hides her from the police and brings her to the priest, just as she has instructed him to do. Korben is sent home with only her in the back of his mind. But as fate has it, Leeloo and Korben find each other again after Korben "wins" tickets in a cruise. They both need to find the stones and bring Leeloo back to Earth so she can stop it all and save the universe.

The Fifth Element has action, adventure, comedy and even romance. It tells of a story about and man and woman who find each other against all odds and kick some serious butt. There is secret societies, car chases, gun fights, aliens and even a singing, squid-like creature! There is hardly anything about this movie that is not pleasing to someone. Best of all, from the start of the movie to the end it will keep everyone on the ends of their seats.
