Ice Princess

Ice Princess In 2005, Walt Disney Pictures presented Ice Princess, starring with Disney/Disney Channel stars such as Michelle Trachtenberg as Casey Carlyle and Hayden Panettiere as Gen Harwood. Just earlier today, I saw this movie, as it was given to me as a birthday present from my friend's mom. At first, I thought it would be incredulously interesting. Instead, I got...

Casey Carlyle, a physics genius, finds herself, somewhere in the beginning of the movie, working on a presentation for Harvard that was encouraged by her physics teacher. The twist is that she has to make it personal, as in based off of her own interests. She chooses to base it on figure skating, AKA ice skating. She then finds herself, after studying the skaters, herself, being educated on the fine arts of ice skating, claiming "it was all for her report."

Soon enough, Casey discovers her new talent that is ice skating. Being as it cost far too much money for her to just easily join in on a competition, she works hard, being told while at work by one of the skaters that she was "going too far." Later, Casey helps the three main skaters in this movie with their skating; showing them their errors by studying their moves on her laptop-computer, and helping them correct their errors.

At the mid-end of Ice Princess, Casey and her mother have an argument and they split off into two different directions; Casey to the ESPN young figure skating champions, and her mother to her classes, as she is a teacher.

With a heavy heart, Casey attempts to skate, but then is over joyed when her mother actually shows up. But, after the first round, Tina (Kim Cattrall), Gen's mother and coach, purposely purchases her new figure skates in an attempt to throw her off as it takes about 10 days for a pair of skates to be 'well suited' for the skater.

Now, I could go on and on about that one single part of the movie, but I must go onto the very ending; where Casey denies Harvard and decides to pursue a career in figure skating.

You may think now that I found the movie quite pleasant, well... you were WRONG. I found it completely boring, and the whole romance crap and everything more than over used by Walt Disney. It seems that Disney movies can't stay away from the family and/or romance movie bull, if you ask me. So, I'm basically addressing that I find this movie quite horrible and that Disney has got to come up with more interesting ideas. Perhaps an actually scary horror movie, which is not to be labeled as another 'family' movie?
