A Person's a Person, No Matter How Small...

A Person's a Person, No Matter How Small... Horton Hears a Who! is one of the better films I have seen in the passed year. Horton features Jim Carrey as Horton the Elephant and Steve Carell as the mayor of Whoville. Other featured names were Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Carol Burnett, and Dan Fogler.

I was immediately stunned by the wondrous animation. They animators seemed to have gotten Horton's habitat and Whoville just right. I thought it was an amazing kids movie. While some of the things in the movie were not exactly children appropriate it was a very good film. I liked how much of the scenery looked so real, surreal even.

The basic plot line, in case you haven't heard, is Horton lives in the jungle of Nue. One day while he was swimming he heard a voice on a speck. He insisted on finding out if what he heard was true. So he caught the speck on a clover. But the queen of the jungle, the purple kangaroo, says no to imagination and nonsense. So she is on a quest to stop Horton from telling people about the person on the speck. But when she finds out that Horton is off to save the speck from certain doom it's now a race against time, the Kangaroo, and Horton.

Meanwhile Whoville is going under certain stresses. They find unnatural tremors, weather changes, and the mayor is going completely batty. The mayor, Ned, has heard Horton speak and is convinced that Whoville is destined for certain destruction. He tries to get all of Whoville to believe him-

But I won't give away the ending. I recommend this movie. It was wonderful and the comedy is fairly pure. It's a good movie for the whole family to see. Phenomenal animation, top voices for characters, and a movie the whole family can laugh at and enjoy. I give it two thumbs up.
