Spirited Away

Spirited Away is by far one of the most amazing animated film's that I have ever in my life seen. Of course, I don't know how I could miss this movie in the first place and from some consistent pushing from friend's did I finally take this into consideration. I spent a good five to ten minutes searching for the full movie online on a boring Saturday and I'm so glad I did.

I've heard a lot about Hayao Miyazaki and his brilliance with Japanese animated films in general, but I never expected anything like this.

Plot

When ten year old Chihiro Ogino moves with her parents to a new town, her father makes a simple mistake by making a wrong turn which obviously get's them stopping in front of an entrance to what is simply a magical world. Of course, adults will be adults and always enjoy venturing into the unknown while smart little Chihiro want's absolutely nothing to do with it.

Obviously not wanting to be stranded out in the forest with a creepy atmosphere, she goes ahead and follow's her parents, all of them happening to stumble across what seems to be an abandoned amusement park but is so much more than that. Strikingly odd, Chihiro see's to it that her parent's have found a stall with freshly made food. Starving, do they then go ahead and help themselves to whatever they please.

Instead of eating the food that rightfully isn't made for them, Chihiro continue's to explore the abandoned park before falling upon the entrance of a gorgeous bath house which suddenly come's alive with a spirit by the name of Haku. He warn's her quickly to leave before sunset and to save herself rather, but Chihiro find's it too late as the spirit world is now open with sunset's arrival. On top of all that, when she goes back to find her parent's, she see's that they've turned into pigs themselves.

And the last thing spirit's want are human's in their world.

Overall

This type of plot was something I've never seen or heard of before, so it was very new and original to me as well as the character development. Chihiro, being a ten year old girl, did infact peek my interest as I wanted to see how a girl as small as herself would manuever her way through a new world where she's obviously not welcome. The thing's that she had done to save her parent's were beyond comprehension.

You see this sense of maturity that develops for her and though she is a young and naive girl, she's very smart for her age which reflect's in the decisions and choices she makes, not only for herself, but for her new found friend's made on the way.

I personally would recommend this to everyone that's looking for something to watch as just a time passer. You can't be an anime lover without watching this film. It's a must see.
