The Day After Tomorrow

The Day After Tomorrow was released in 2004, taking on the role of an 'end of the world' science fiction film directed by Roland Emmerich who is often praised for his movie Independence Day.

Plot

Paleoclimatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) comes into contact with the Larsen Ice Shelf breaking off in masses during a venture into the Antarctic. After presenting his findings on global warming at a UN conference does he find himself ridiculed by the Vice President of the U.S.

With destructive weather patterns that begin to arise and disastrous tornadoes, hurricanes, and all such other nonsense does the world begin to devour itself in what seems to be the new ice age.

Overall

Starting from the graphics to the music, The Day After Tomorrow is one of my favorite disaster films. Roland Emmerich is my favorite movie director as I am a big fan of Independence Day, but this work of his is absolutely mind blowing.

The emotional loss and separation portrayed between family and friends as well as the need to survive, The Day After Tomorrow touches all hearts. With another terror that earth faces as a whole, this movie goes on to show how the whole world relies on the help of allying countries just for survival after the hint of the storm begins to subside.

With a well-casted crew and enough climatology like information to get your head spinning, this is definitely a repeat on my 'to-watch' list.
