The One

The One is 2001 science fiction/action film starring Jet Li, Jason Statham, Delroy Lindo and Carla Gugino.

Plot

Gabriel Yulaw (Jet Li), once an officer of the Multiverse Authority, turns his back on keeping peace and order. After an incident in which he kills a copy of himself in a different universe, Gabriel realizes the energy that this copy (out of 124 others) divides power among the survivors. The sudden need to hunt down and kill other universe like copies of himself, Gabriel believes that if he is the last one standing, he'll become godlike, basically "The One", and become immortal.

Temporarily caught by MVA agents Funsch (Jason Statham) and Rodecker (Delroy Lindo), Yulaw manages to escape once more after his trial to hunt down the last alternate, Gabriel (Gabe) Law, who works for the LAPD county.

For the past couple years, Gabe has been experiencing his mental and physical strength increasing. While he and his wife T.K (Carle Gugino) are unable to pinpoint why he's been acting out in odd ways, the fact consists of Yulaw eliminating all other versions of himself and power not only going to him by his last alternate.

When coming into contact with Yulaw in this last universe, Funsch manages to get a hold of Gabe and fill him in on the intergalactic travel and who Yulaw is, why he's hunting his last alternate and what is to become of both if either or die.

Overall

Jet Li is by far my most favorite actor of all time. Not only is he a martial arts expert, but he's amazing in every role that he plays and The One just happens to be first on my favorite movie list. While you're a bit confused as to why Yulaw is hunting his universal copies at first, it's easy to follow the basis of the plotline and let's not forget how amazing the action and fighting scenes are.

I could watch this movie every day and never get bored of it in all honesty. That's just me but I think everyone should at least give this movie a shot. It's captivating and holds enough interest without boring the audience.
