Tru Calling

Tru Calling What would you do if you could help a dead person? If you could save them? Would you do so, or let it be the way it’s supposed to be? Would you call your power to give someone a second chance a blessing or a curse?

To Tru Davies (Eliza Dushku), it was simply a life changing revelation. What could she do? Embrace it? Yes. As one day she realizes that newly dead person suddenly awakens and mumbles “Help me” or “I need you”, she becomes aware of her special power - the day restarts and she has to do everything to save the life of the, now living person.

She remembers everything from the day the person dies; she uses her knowledge to double cross death. Her perky yet irresponsible brother Harrison knows his sister’s secret and helps her, usually ending up needing help himself. Davis, Tru’s supervisor at the city morgue, is a socially challenged, awkward man, but loyal friend whose help is always needed.

Helping the dead and repeating days might get boring and predictable. To save us from that fact, Tru’s job becomes harder, as the new character is introduced; Jack Harper. His daily job is to hinder Tru from helping the dead. We can name him the death himself, since he believes in fate and tries to maintain the balance in the Universe.

The show combines drama, supernatural and mystery. The pack is the winning combination, usually featuring a twist ending. It premiered back in 2003 and ran for two seasons before it was canceled in January 2005.
