The Unit

The Unit Crime shows. The thrill of watching the cops go and shoot people, or figure out who murdered who. Yes, everybody has that one guilty pleasure crime show, where you get so addicted you actually find yourself looking forward to that night all week, just to see what happened to the guy who was shot last episode.

But the Unit isn’t just a crime show, it’s a show in which you can imagine these things actually happen on a day to day basis. Set in present day, this show revolves around five soldiers in ‘The Unit’ who have some of the most dangerous, high risk, scary tasks and missions that you could ever think of. They’ve been to Iraq, they’ve been to Siberia, and been in the middle of mind fields, where one wrong move could’ve have killed them all.

Based on the book Delta Force, these five men work under the top secret special unit modeled after the actual Delta Force, men who have the risk of their country in their hands at all times, trying to juggle family and home life at the same time.

Starring Dennis Haysbert, (Think, AllState commercials) Scott Foley, (think, Felicity,) Robert Patrick, (think, small role in Walk The Line) and Max Martini, (Think Saving Private Ryan, ‘Corporal Henderson.) These men risk their lives every day to save out country, or save their own men.

I think this show has made a powerful statement, from it’s edgy theme song, (Walk the Fire-Robert Duncan) to it’s thrilling, scary, and emotional story line. Not only does this show revolve around these five soldiers, but also around the lives of their wives, who live day to day worrying about their husbands, and raising the children on their own.

It’s telling the US, and other countries, that whether or whether not you believe in this war, or anything that your president or Prime Minister decides to do, you have to remember, these men our fighting to save our lives, and at the risk, paying for it with their own lives.

Entering it’s third season, The Unit is still at the top of the charts and you can watch it Tuesday Nights on CBS at 9pm Eastern.
