Heirs

The Heirs, also known as The Inheritors, was a South Korean TV drama that aired on SBS from October 9th to December 12th with 20 episodes of pure beauty.

Plot

And so it goes as Kim Tan (Lee Minho) is nothing less than the heir to the throne for his father's corporation, Jeguk Group. Being the second son and the illegitimate child (as he is the son of his father's mistress), it was obviously hard for him to grow and prosper in doing things how he wished. With a bitter connection with his father and half-brother, Kim Tan was exiled to study abroad in the U.S.

Down in Korea, Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin-Hye), a poor and hard-working girl, struggles to make ends meet as she endlessly tries to support her mute mother. Little do either individuals know that their lives will cross and start a roller coaster of love, hate, and emotions neither could ever comprehend.

Overall

Of course, I'm not one for drama's much like these. With everyone hyped up about Heirs, I couldn't resist in checking it out myself. I personally don't think the plot should receive an A+ on originality as it is the typical "rich boy falls for poor girl" nonsense, but I do think that casting was perfect.

From the bad guys consisting of Kim Woo Bin who played the bully, Choi Young Do, I was beyond impressed. The character development for every character was a sight to see and one that strikingly stood out to me was Young Do. Seen as nothing less than a bully that happened to be Kim Tan's former friend, you see his actions of hate having a more deeper side to it. Nothing but misunderstood, as the drama continues, it's obvious to see the depth of his scars and how broken he truly is until facing whatever it is that makes him weak and taking it head on.

Minho's character, Kim Tan, is often seen as a thick-headed and stubborn individual, yet aside that barrier he's very warm and passionate. Unlike his half-brother, Kim Won, the chances he takes for love is striking and obviously something that would jeopardize his relationship as the second son of a giant corporation. Though at the end it ends with him getting what he basically wants after overcoming such a horrendous obstacle with Cha Eun Sang, I can't help but love it despite the flaws.

Normally everything ends on a happy note, but with hearts still broken and healing, Kim Tan can still look back and realize that his true love is by his side.

Though this drama was a slow starter and had its moments, I can't help but love it wholeheartedly. If I had to rate it on a scale, I'd probably give it a 8/10. It's mainly this high because of the casting alike as well as the soundtrack.
