Ao No Exorcist

Ao No Exorcist, also known as Blue Exorcist, is a manga that was then produced into an anime series.

Plot

The story bases itself around Okumura Rin who is a fifteen year old boy that discovers he has inherited powers of his father, Satan. Witnessing his caretaker, Fujimoto Shiro, dying to protect him, Rin vows to become an exorcist to avenge his fatherly like figure along with his younger twin brother, Okumura Yukio.

After attending Shiro's funeral does Rin find the principal of True Cross Academy (actually the Japanese branch of an international organization) approaching him and stating that he has full entrance for studying in the school as a whole.

A few surprises grasp Rin by the throat as he realizes that Yukio is already a veteran exorcist and will be one of his teachers. Now, at True Cross Academy, does Rin find that he will have to control his powers and train to fight alongside his friends to protect the human realm from the dreams of Satan and his lost love.

Overall

Without giving more away to the plot, I just have to say that it's really hard for me to fall in love with an anime and even if I start one that I don't like, I will finish it. I've gotten through Ao No Exorcist in a little over two weeks as it holds twenty five episodes which is honestly a break through record on my part.

The way character's were developed caught me by complete surprise as I was a little iffy on starting this as a first anime after so long. If there is one thing that I can say, Okumura Rin is one of my favorites. I'll have to admit that I've had a crush on him through the whole series and him in general. Starting from his immature ways to his yet stern, serious, and dedicated choices and decisions, he really is a hero in all of this and is totally not what I expected in the end.

The friendships he makes along the way with people he normally couldn't get along with is hinted so realistically that I sincerely couldn't stop admiring him more for it. There was a sense of wanting to create a family within the students at True Cross Academy and how dedicated he was into showing them that he really cared.

The brotherly love you see between Rin and Yukio is to die for and though there isn't really a love story behind this, Ao No Exorcist really revolves around the relationship of two brothers who fight for their human realm as well as their love for one another.
