The Little Couple

The Little Couple is a reality show that is currently in its sixth season and airs Tuesday nights at ten PM on TLC.

This show chronicles the lives of small business owner Bill Klein and neonatologist Dr. Jennifer Arnold, both of whom have differing forms of dwarfism. Previous seasons have followed the titular "little couple's" first year of marriage, their major move from New York to Texas, the construction of their dream home, and the couple's struggles with infertility, and their experiences with international adoption.

The show's fifth season centered around Bill and Jen's first child, a three-year-old boy named Will, by kicking off with the couple's journey to China to finalize Will's adoption. Over the course of the season, the viewers get to experience many of Will's first milestones and watch as the three become a budding but happy family. The season ends with the family preparing to travel to India to pick up their latest addition, two-year-old Zoey.

In the show's latest season, viewers are introduced to little Zoey and watch as she grows accustomed to life with her new family. The Kleins' first holiday season as a family is documented, and viewers watch the family overcome their biggest obstacle yet: Jen's cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The Little Couple is a quintessential example of what reality television as a whole should strive to be. Although Jen and Bill are successful, in essence, they are average, everyday people dealing with real-life situations. Also, though each member of the Klein family has a different type of dwarfism, the fact that they're little people isn't the main focus of the show. Instead of getting bogged down by relationship and family drama that seems to fuel most reality shows, The Little Couple chronicles the real-life highs and lows of the Klein family, and because there are no gimmicks, the show has an authenticity that most reality shows sadly lack. Both Bill and Jen have been extremely open about everything that is going on in their lives, and it's that openness that allows the viewer to feel a connection to them and become invested in the lives of Bill, Jen, and their children.
