Dream High is a romantic comedy based TV show that aired from January 3 to February 28th of 2011. The broadcast dealt with many K-Pop idols including Miss A's Suzy, 2PM's Wooyoung and Taecyeon, T-ara's Eunjung, and IU.

Plot

The storyline bases around six students who reside in Kirin Art School with dreams of becoming K-Pop idols. Throughout the six years of them going through severe training for songwriting, singing, and dancing, each gain that of personal growth and respect for the ones whom they've come to hate and love in different fashions.

Go Hye Mi, a stubborn individual going through her life thinking that she's the best, gets a mouthful of reality. Once close friend Yoon Baek Hee soon becomes her enemy upon the cruel words thrown at one another during an audition to get into Kirin. The fact that Hye Mi assumed she was the best was one of the main reasons, at first, she was declined acceptance. With Baek Hee taking on this roll of a power high diva, the relationship as a whole crumples and new cliques are formed.

While both individuals go through life at their high school, learning and realizing that perfection isn't something that will always get them to places they wish to reach, the obstacles needed to overcome are suddenly ten times more harder as each person is left on their own at certain points of their six years.

Overall

This is the first brand of K-Drama I've seen that revolves around music and ties into the idol world. At first, I couldn't get through the first episode seeing to how annoying Go Hye Mi's character had been. I'm not very good at dealing with characters that have a bad "I'm so perfect" attitude, so that took a little getting used to. Upon passing the first episode did things start to fall in place.

There's a lot of stuff that happens in the first so it's best to pay attention. Upon getting to the cliffhanger at the end did I really get sucked in. Giving Dream High a chance in the beginning will serve you well!

I think the plot in general was an A+ along with the cast. There was not one person who played a part in this drama that I thought of as ill-fitting. Starting from relationships made and broken, it was just perfect. I really also adored seeing JYP in this drama. I loved his character and how funny of a teacher he made. That topped it off.

As far as the love triangle goes, they usually bother me but I was so keen on seeing the end of this one that I practically went nuts. For Go Hye Mi to choose between Jin Guk (played by Ok Taecyeon) or Song Sam Dong (played by Kim Soo-hyun) was something I had to go to the end of the world to see.

Of course, while I was thoroughly happy by the end as to who Hye Mi chose, the fact that the drama ended on neither a happy or sad note was just what I was waiting to see. I don't think a drama has ever ended as greatly as it has in Dream High. All in all, this is one of the best 16 episode dramas I've wasted my time for. I recommend it to anyone looking for a laugh. Up until the climax, I was laughing like a mad man and then found myself crying like a child. This obviously tears at heartstrings. Fair warning.
