Boys Over Flowers

Boys Over Flowers (Boys Before Flowers) is a 2009 South Korean TV series that starred Kim Hyunjoong (of SS501), Lee Minho, Ku Hye Sun, Kim Bum, Kim Joon (of T-Max) and Kim So-eun. The drama aired from January 5th to March 31st with a total of 25 episodes. Boys Over Flowers is also based off the Japanese manga series of the same name with a Cinderella story spin off.

Plot

Geum Jandi (Ku Hye Sun) is a hardworking member of a small family. Working jobs to bring in a small profit does Jandi find herself one day delivering dry cleaning to Shinhwa High School which is for the rich and prestigious only accepted by scholarships and a giant list of qualifications.

Finding herself rescuing a distressed boy who was being bullied by the notorious F4 consisting of handsome yet arrogant Goo Junpyo (Lee Minho), outspoken Yoon Jihoo (Kim Hyunjoong), playboy So Yijung (Kim Bum) and back bone Song Woobin (Kim Joon) who no one dares to challenge but our righteous heroine Geum Jandi.

Being accepted into the school for her heroic actions does Jandi commit the fatal mistake of telling off leader Goo Junpyo. Soon after does a whirlwind of trouble fall upon her shoulders as Junpyo's pride is wounded. Yet through the bulk of such horrid events and back and forth banters does Junpyo and Jandi find that they are in love with one another. The road from there doesn't get anymore easier.

Overall

While I did like the plot of this story, I thought they stretched the drama out more than necessary. Soon after Junpyo and Jandi declared their feelings and realized that they loved one another, it seemed as if every factor in the bulk of the world was trying to get them to break apart and most of those factors were truly repetitive. That was probably the only downfall of the drama as I did get bored with it rather quickly. The re-watch value for me is pretty low and personally, I didn't think Jandi and Junpyo were a compatible couple.

Aside from that, I adored the character development in this as you see all of F4 transition from the immature and slightly prideful individuals they are to caring sweethearts after Jandi enters their life.
