Dream High 2

Dream High 2 is the sequel to hit drama Dream High with sixteen episodes. It aired from January 30 to March 20 of 2012 starring a variety of K-idols such as Im Jaebum (JB) and Park Jinyoung (JR) of Got7, Kim Hyojung (Hyorin) of Sistar, Park Jiyeon of T-ara and Amy Lee (Ailee).

Plot

Like Dream High, Dream High 2 follows a set of students struggling to become the best of the best at Kirin Art School. The only difference happens to be financial bankruptcy the school goes through which plummets the reputation immensely. Sooner than later does Oz Entertainment take over and transfer their minor idols who've already taken the stage to this school for educational purposes. This obviously causes competition between Oz's extensively talented idols and Kirin's struggling students.

Shin Haesung (Kang Sora) enters Kirin based on her extremely high exam scores but truth be told, has no talent when it comes down to singing. At Kirin, she befriends troublesome Jin Yoojin (Jung Jinwoon) who got into Kirin due to his acting as a child. Haesung also accompany's herself to new student transfer JB - member of the famous idol group, Eden.

As JB and Haesung become closer and develop obvious feelings, there are obvious factors concerning the two that make it a struggle for them to be with one another.

Overall

Wow, where do I start? The level of disappointment I have after watching this. I think it's absolutely insulting to call it a sequel to Dream High which was amazing. I thought to give this a chance despite the annoying characters and cast that didn't know how to act but it was a waste of time. Sixteen hours of my life I'll never get back actually.

Now, I do think JB and 2AM's Jinwoon are really sincere in their acting as well as Park Seojoon, the plot and remaining cast members simply annoyed me.

Dream High had a love story which wasn't the bulk of the plot. It was more so a side thing while focusing on dreams and ambitions of the students. Dream High 2 dealt with more of the love than the dreams and I didn't like that. The same characters kept making the same mistakes, Haesung, the main character, wanted to sing but didn't know how, couldn't learn how and was caught up in a love problem as a fan falling for idol JB. I just didn't like it.

I didn't like why Jinwoon's character was so troublesome. Like, okay yes, they didn't make his past as well known and it was up to the audience to figure it out. I didn't know his actions were displayed in certain ways because his parents were divorced.

Park Jiyeon. I'm sorry, she just can't act. I didn't like her acting in God of Study and I didn't like her acting here in Dream High 2 because her acting is bland and emotionless. Same goes for actress Kang Sora.

All in all? Don't waste your time with this. Talk about cliches taken to the max and character development that doesn't even occur.
