Who Are You: School 2015

Who Are You: School 2015 was released on June 16th of this year and starred Kim So-hyun, Yook Sung-jae and Nam Joo-hyuk while topping KBS2 with sixteen episodes of this rather melodramatic drama.

Plot

Identical twins separated at birth, Go Eun-byul and Lee Eun-bi live on opposite ends of the social ladder.

Eun-byul is seen as a tough, mean and sometimes very arrogant character that happens to nab the popularity of her status at school. With a loving mother showering her with anything and everything, Eun-byul acts cold to the only woman trying to stick through the challenging years of her teen's life.

Eun-bi on the other hand lives in an orphanage known as the Love House. It's there that she takes on the role of an older sister/motherly figure for the children there. Unbeknownst to everyone else that loves and treasures Eun-bi, she's horribly bullied at school by ring leader Kang So-young. With no friends, a seemingly spineless personality and immense fear, Eun-bi is bullied to the point in which she attempts suicide.

Eun-byul, the only sister that knows of her twins existence, often goes to visit or follow Eun-bi around. And it's just coincidence that she finds her jumping off a bridge and into the cold waters below. Eun-byul saves her sister and allows her to live her life for the time being as she runs from past secrets that are ready to tear her to pieces. While Eun-bi, suffering from a form of amnesia, is settling into life at a private school with friends she's never seen and a love interest she's never felt for, secrets of her sister's past happen to be much more darker than they first seemed.

Overall

I think I had my expectations placed a little too high for this drama because it came as a horrible disappointment.

I'm actually a huge fan of the School series, but the 2015 installment didn't even specialize on the topic of school drama or bullying as the others had. Instead, this one tried to follow something along the lines of a Pretty Little Liars and The Prince and The Pauper crossover what with these random clichés coming about.

Eun-bi losing her memory was very overplayed. The use of amnesia to heighten a plot really is becoming overdone. Also, Eun-byul having to run from her secrets was honestly senseless. All through these sixteen episodes, you imagine coming to terms with something plot-worthy, but really, it's one of the simplest things you can come to uncover.

Though Who Are You: School 2015 introduced stalking, the extent of bullying, and the consequences of it, the way it was planned out truly made me believe that I wasted sixteen hours for this melodramatic story that, in one point, didn't even have a solid storyline to follow.

I'd really only recommend this to fans of the cast, not the plot.
