Fuller House

The time has come, Fuller House has finally been released on Netflix! With most of us having grown up with Full House, this spin off has been bubbling with anticipation. I, personally, was super excited. I watched the entire season in about four days and I can say that I am both impressed and disappointed.

It started off great. It felt familiar and like home. Once that theme song started I immediately went back into the days of my childhood. There were references to old episodes that made me feel warm and fuzzy. I was filled with joy!

Everyone is back except Mary Kate and Ashley Olson which to me is a huge disappointment. I would be so happy if Michelle came back. They make a ton of references to her though, and not only Michelle as a character, they make references to Mary Kate and Ashley themselves. But this is the only downside to my happiness about the casting. Jesse and Becky are still as in love as ever, Danny is still a clean freak and protective dad, Joey is still funny in his Joey way and Mr Woodchuck is back too, because it wouldn't be the same without him, would it?

As for DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy, I'm happy with how they turned out. Sadly DJ's husband passed away causing her to have to move back into her family home with her young boys, but she has grown into an amazing woman and mother. Stephanie is a DJ under the name 'DJ Tanner' which is funny in a cute kind of way. Kimmy has started a party planning business 'Gibbler Style' and is still as gibbler as ever. Kimmy has been in a pretty on and off relationship with her husband Fernando. Kimmy, Stephanie and Kimmy's daughter, Ramona, have all moved into the house to help DJ with her boys and the loss of her husband.

The upsides: All of that family togetherness and love (and hugs!) are still there. It seems that all that has happened is that everyone has grown up. But the closeness of the family that we all love and admire hasn't changed at all. There are regular appearances by Danny, Becky, Jesse, and Joey. Steve is back and is still in love with DJ. All the good things are still there.

The downsides: There are so many references to old episodes and catchphrases that it almost feels like they're being over-played. No Michelle! Something I had noticed while watching is that it sometimes feels like they are trying way too hard.

In the end I found it to be a great show. It brought me back. It made me laugh, cry, ugly cry, and laugh again. So I give it a solid 8/10.
